I need to just check in here. It has been nearly a full six months since I posted anything. Everything is going great.

I have to post a picture of my dog. She has been a part of my life, and my family's, for fifteen years. It has been a week since we took her to the vet. She was sick all weekend and simply would not get up, all she did was lay on the floor - such a sweet dog. It broke our heart. The vet told us we can run additional tests and do extensive blood work, but she simply was old and in a lot of pain. I had to make the ultimate decision to have her put to sleep. My son Nick and I cried and agreed that it was the best thing. We called Mary, my wife , and she supported the decision. Nick and I stayed by Zoe's side as the doctor helped her to fall asleep. We cried more and then took her home in a simple, white cardboard box and buried her in the back part of our garden. The people at the vet drew a little red heart on the box for us. My three kids that grew up with Zoe were all there. It was one of the sadest things the five of us have gone through.

A new beginning.

Not really... it's only the beginning of a new calendar year. Almost all of us (humans) are compelled to try to start the new year with new ideas and new beginnings.

I do too..but I'm not real dead set on lists. I just hope to accomplish more this year than last. The older I get them more I appreciate the people in my life and the experiences I allow myself to have.

Be inspired.... my mantra most of the time.

Pink flower study and final

Images completed the end of November. I've done a little bit of traveling for work - five city tour for a recognition campaign. All done in theaters,, some traditional theaters and two in blockbox theaters. Each time the stage crew bourht a little more to the show. The final event in Melbourne was the best, the lighting scene also included changes to the audinece lighting for the finale. Images to come later.. I have them at work and ccannot access the file here at home.

If I may comment on my flowers. What a wonderful exercise that was for me. Disciplining myself to utilize the paper color as part of the flowers was a particular challenge. I think I pulled it off. My next task will be some pomegaranites.

First time with Pastels

This is a friend's house up here in Mt. Washington. My first attempt with pastels, it took me almost 3 hours to get the guts to start it. Overall I am happy - but pastels need to be bigger in order to include detail in the work.

I'll post it on FB and then in 'skineart and hopefully do a second version as a gift for the owners of the house.

Orange study

The image below was the first orange study I did. I only had seven colored pencils. Immediately after drawing this image I searched everywhere for my Prismacolors. Once I found them I continued drawing the same orange eight more times. My son made fun of me and said they looked the same. He called it my fruit book. I told him to take another look, because they were all different. Different strokes and intensity of orange color.
